Students compete in archery tournament
The 15th Annual National Archery in School Tournament just wrapped up in Syracuse. Students from four local schools competed: New Lebanon, Germantown, Johnsburg and Hinsdale. There were 635 students in three divisions, high school middle school and elementary school. First place went to a student at a school in Richmond County. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation hosted the tournament.
Entire Mohonasen graduating class accepted to SUNY Schenectady
The entire graduating class at Mohonasen High School has a spot at SUNY Schenectady. No application was necessary. This is part of a partnership between the college and the school in Rotterdam. It gives all seniors at the school a solid next step.
Tuxedo, suit rental shop opens in Lake George
Stay in Tux is opening up its new location in Lake George. The tuxedo and suit rental business cut the ribbon Thursday at its store on Route 9 in the village. Owner Cheryl and Todd Smith are offering free shoe rentals to anyone who comes to the store and mentions the ribbon cutting.
Schenectady Police Department members graduate from FBI National Academy
Congratulations to two members of the Schenectady Police Department.
Assistant Chief Brian Whipple and Assistant Chief Paul Antonovich just graduated as members of the 285th FBI National Academy. The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. The intense training focuses on advanced communication, leadership and fitness. Assistant Chief Whipple has been with Schenectady Police since 2009. Assistant Chief Antonovich has been with the department since 2004.
