Train kills person in Schodack
A person is dead after being struck by a train in Schodack.
The crash happened at around 8:40 a.m. in the area of River Road. State Police responded to the scene.
Amtrak posted delays on their X account from the accident. Ally Hoy also spoke with Castleton mayor, Joe Keegan, about the accident:
“Myself and the entire board of trustees plus members of our community are very sad about this horrific accident and our thoughts are with the family of the person involved and those driving the train…As the Mayor of a Village that borders the tracks, safety has been and will stay a top priority for us. We live with this issue everyday- trains run to and from NYC to Albany daily at high speeds – and keeping our residents and the visitors to our Village safe, is extremely important. Amtrak and NYS DOT need to work with communities to find ways for pedestrians and trains to safely coexist. That’s the only way we’re going to prevent these tragedies from happening.”
