The city of Troy has declared an emergency to quickly replace leaking valves and pumps and a large, corroded section of a water main.
Water infrastructure issues have been a problem in the city for years.
However, officials are taking emergency action to replace equipment at the Eddy’s Lane pump station.
If the section of pipe being replaced were to rupture, it would compromise the structural integrity of the pump station building and pumping operations for the entire city, according to Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello. It would also affect eight municipalities that receive their water from Troy.
