Man sentenced in shooting in May 2024

Man sentenced in shooting in May 2024 in Albany.

A Troy man who admitted to manslaughter was sentenced on Friday to 10 years in prison for weapons possession in a different case.

Daquan Arrington, 25, previously pleaded guilty to having a 9mm handgun that was involved in a shooting on May 26, 2024 in the area of 300 Second Ave. When officers arrived, they found a vehicle that was struck by gunfire. Two people were inside but not hurt, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.

Ten days later on June 5, Arrington was the driver in the drive-by shooting death of Javon Ward.

He has pleaded guilty in November to first-degree manslaughter and will received 25 years in state prison when sentenced on Jan. 27.
