Troy Police: Officers fired guns 18 times at suspect
Troy Police fired guns 18 times at a suspect early Monday morning, they said.
The shooting happened at 431 River Street.
The suspect is now identified as Michael Brodie, 39. Brodie was out on bail after a September drug arrest in Albany, police said.
Police had tried to stop and question him in the area of 5th Avenue and Jacob Street as part of an investigation. Instead, he fled into a nearby parking garage in the area of 431 River Street and opened fire on police as they approached, investigators said.
Brodie fired his gun once. Then it jammed, and four officers fired their guns, police said.
The shots were fired in a span of about five seconds, according to investigators. The four officers range from two years of service to 16 years of service, police said.
Brodie has injuries to his torso, leg and lip. He is now charged with attempted murder in the first degree – police officer, along with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
“We are thankful the involved officers were not seriously physically injured or killed during the course of their duties,” Troy Police said in a statement.
Anyone who may have information or surveillance video in the area is asked to call Troy Police at (518) 270-4421.
