Troy police sergeant retires after 20 years on the force
Troy Police held a retirement walkout ceremony Friday for Detective Sergeant Ralph Southworth.
Troy Police held a retirement walkout ceremony Friday for Detective Sgt. Ralph Southworth.
He first joined the department back in July 2004. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in August 2018.
Southworth served in many roles, including evidence technician, patrol sergeant and supervisor of the special victim’s unit.
“I love this department. It’s been part of my life since I was 19 years old,” said Southworth. “I don’t regret saying that I was able to at some point positively impact lives, values and do some good things. I know I had a lot of fun doing it. That’s what’s special about this place. It’s the fun and the laughter.”
After his retirement, Southworth will be serving in his hometown of Schodack as the assistant chief of the Schodack Police Department.
