Troy Turkey Trot runners brave wintry weather

Nearly 4,500 runners braved the wintry conditions to take part in the 77th annual Troy Turkey Trot.

Jack Huber, of Delmar, came in first among the male participants in the 10K. Huber told NewsChannel 13’s Tamara Starr that he has run in the race since 2022 and improved his showing from fourth to second before finally taking the top spot this year.

“The conditions are pretty bad this year. It’s cold. It’s freezing rain, but everyone has got to deal with it. Someone’s going to win anyways,” he said.

He said he planned to eat, take a nap and get warm.

Nicole Peterson, of Portland, Oregon, was the female 10K winner.

Damian Hackett and Gwen Perks were the male and female winners in the 5K.

Conor O’Grady, 13, won the Grade School Mile.

There were 4,478 runners in total.
