Two Albany men accused of stealing rental car from airport

Two Albany men are facing charges for allegedly stealing from the Hertz car rental at Albany International Airport.

Police said Odiah D. Austin and another man, identified as Tyshaun C. Phelps, arrived at the airport in a stolen vehicle and attempted to steal another vehicle from Hertz. They allegedly broke into the Hertz booth by smashing the window in the parking garage and stealing keys belong to a rental car.

After an investigation, police arrested Austin on Oct. 3. While Austin was being processed, police said Phelps showed up to the police station to check on him. Phelps was driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Connecticut, police said.  

During the investigation, Phelps was identified to be a suspect in another case of a stolen vehicle from Albany.

Austin was charged with burglary, grand larceny, criminal mischief and conspiracy. Phelps was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
