Two arrested for attempted grand larceny following a potential scam investigation

The Guilderland Police Department says they arrested Nicholas T. Bialobzreski, 21, of Jersey City, NJ and Max Baraiya, 21, of Jersey City, NJ on Friday in connection to a potential scam investigation led by the department’s Criminal Investigations Unit.

Authorities say the investigation stemmed from a complaint from a senior resident in the Town, who believed they were a victim of a potential scam.

Officials say while undercover, one officer delivered a package which was reported to contain $31,000 to the agreed location of 5239 Western Avenue, a Hannaford location.

While communicating to the suspects over the phone, the undercover officer presented the package for delivery to the suspect, said police.

They say once it was delivered, one suspect was taken into custody.

Officials say a second suspect who had been dropped off in the parking lot, fled the scene and was apprehended by Guilderland Police shortly after.

Both people were arrested and charged with third-degree attempted grand larceny, said police.

They were arraigned in Guilderland Town Court and released on probation.
