National recognition for the University at Albany, as the school Friday receives a major award.
The Seal of Excelencia. Or The Seal of Excellence.
Several institutions across the country earned this recognition Friday, including two in New York State.
UAlbany, and Mercy College in New York City.
The Seal of Excelencia honors a school that has focused on providing opportunities and support for Latino and Latina students.
The Seal of Excelencia is a 3 year certification and it comes as UAlbany welcomed a freshman class this fall that’s more than 21 percent Hispanic, the largest in the school’s history.
We sat down with the school president to talk about how UAlbany continues to help Latino and Latina students move forward. And we also talk about his background, Dr. Rodriguez, his time growing up in Puerto Rico, and how each step brought him to where he is today.
