Undocumented migrant admits to robbing Halfmoon convenience store
An undocumented migrant from El Salvador is expected to spend 8 years in prison and be deported after pleading guilty to robbing a Halfmoon convenience store.
Jesus Antonio Menendez-Flores, 26, admitted to walking into Mi Mexico Lindo Tienda y Taqueria on Route 9 on Nov. 11. He wore a ski mask, implied he had a gun and demanded money.
Other customers jumped in and shoved Mendez-Flores against the wall of the store. They then held him on the ground until police arrived.
Mendez-Flores did not have a gun. He also provided authorities with a fake name because he is living in the U.S. illegally. He was ordered to be deported in Maryland in 2017.
Menendez-Flores pleaded on Monday in Saratoga County Court to first-degree robbery.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 6. He is set to be deported after his prison sentence.
