Vermont renews firearm storage program

Vermont State Police and Vermont’s Attorney General’s office is also taking more steps today to improve safety.

Vermont residents who need guns out of their homes now have access to a renewed program that provides safe storage at sites across the state.

Right now, gun owners don’t need a court order to remove weapons from a home, but police say law enforcement agencies typically only help if there is.

Eight federally licensed firearms dealers across Vermont say they’ll help store the weapons.
