Victim identified in Malta homicide

Investigators have released the name of the man who was killed the night of Friday May 31. The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office says Brian Miller, 53, of Malta was hit in the head with a wrench during a large fight near Malta Pointe Apartments.

MALTA, N.Y. (WNYT)- Investigators have released the name of the man who was killed the night of Friday May 31. The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office says Brian Miller, 53, of Malta was hit in the head with a wrench during a large fight near Malta Pointe Apartments. That blow to the head is what authorities say caused Miller’s death.

Cyrus J. Tetreault, 20, from Watervliet has been arrested, and charged with first degree manslaughter, and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Authorities said they responded to a fight in progress Friday just before 6:30 p.m. Miller was declared dead at the scene.

“It is truly tragic that this situation resulted in a loss of life,” Sheriff Michael Zurlo said. “I am grateful for the professional response of the men and women of my agency and for the quick identification and arrest of the person responsible.

Tetreault was arraigned in Malta Town Court and is being held at Saratoga County Jail.
