Victim of shooting that sparked downstate police shootout dies

The victim of a shooting in Albany last week has died. David Cooley, 35, was shot last Wednesday on Hudson Avenue.

The victim of a shooting in Albany last week has died. David Cooley, 35, was shot last Wednesday on Hudson Avenue.

The incident led to a shootout between the suspect and state troopers on the Thruway in Rockland County.

The suspect, Rakim A. Tillery, 35, shot at state troopers and they returned fire, said police. Tillery was pronounced dead at the scene.

The troopers were treated at Westchester Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries and released.
