Warren County nursing home in danger of closing

NORTH CREEK, N.Y. (WNYT)- Elderwood at North Creek, an 82-bed nursing facility is looking at the possibility it may have to close without financial support from the state.
Elderwood said higher expenses due to inflation, a low Medicaid reimbursement rate and lack of continuous grant support from the New York State Department of Health are all contributing to financial stress.
“Well, we’ve had conversations with all of our families and residents, and they’re scared,” said Elderwood Administrator Heidi Schempp.
Dan Levy spoke with Schempp, other Elderwood administrators, staff and Johnsburg Town Supervisor, Kevin Bean on Thursday. Efforts are underway to keep Elderwood open.
