WATERVLIET, N.Y. (WNYT)- Evan Kennedy, 36, from Watervliet was arrested for rape after an investigation by the Watervliet Police Department in cooperation with the FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, police said.

Kennedy sexually assaulted a 17-year-old victim over an extended period of time, according to police.

Kennedy was charged with first-degree rape, arraigned in Watervliet City Court and is being monitored by Albany County Probation.

“The Watervliet Police Department remains committed to investigating all crimes of this nature with diligence and sensitivity. We thank the community and our federal partners for their support during this investigation,” police said.
