Watervliet man arrested in connection with Malta death

Arrest made in Malta homicide

A 20-year-old Watervliet man has been arrested in connection with a homicide at Malta Gardens Apartments in Malta.

MALTA, N.Y. (WNYT)- Cyrus J. Tetreault, 20, from Watervliet has been arrested for allegedly hitting another man in the head with a wrench causing his death Friday, May 31 near Malta Pointe Apartments, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said they responded to a fight in progress Friday just before 6:30 p.m. The victim was declared dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released.

Tetreault was charged with:

  • First degree manslaughter
  • Fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon

“It is truly tragic that this situation resulted in a loss of life,” Sheriff Michael Zurlo said. “I am grateful for the professional response of the men and women of my agency and for the quick identification and arrest of the person responsible.

Tetreault was arraigned in Malta Town Court and is being held at Saratoga County Jail.
