Watervliet Police: Troy girl, 16, had gun

A 16-year-old girl from Troy is accused of having a gun.

Watervliet Police stopped a vehicle on March 23 around 5 p.m. for a traffic violation.

A passenger in the vehicle is accused of having a .22-caliber handgun on her waistband. The teen was charged with criminal possession of a weapon. Her name is not being released because of her age. The girl was arraigned in Watervliet City Court and released on an appearance ticket.

The driver of the vehicle was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.
