One nonprofit in Albany is helping folks celebrate Fourth of July.
Capital City Rescue Mission – with the help of donors and volunteers – provided free hot dogs and hamburgers to neighbors who wouldn’t otherwise be celebrating.
Executive Director Perry Jones said he loves to help. He believes it’s important that everyone knows how vital they are to the community and the country.
“If you don’t celebrate holidays in our country, you’re missing so much,” said Jones. “The homeless and the needy, often they don’t have the homes that we have, and having this, it says to them, ‘You’re part of the country, you’re part of the reason why we’re celebrating.’”
Jones made sure to thank the chef, saying the Mission had enough food to last the day.
With a bounty of watermelon and trays of mac and cheese, Jones is sure no one left hungry.
