Couple donates $40 million to Union College for engineering, computer science programs
Union College has received a $40 million donation to help strengthen its engineering and computer science programs.
The gift comes from Rich and Mary Templeton, who both graduated from Union in 1980.
The Templetons, known for their education philanthropy, say Union College prepared them for successful careers and they want to help future generations achieve the same goal.
The couple donated $51 million to the college in 2020.
Rich Templeton is chairman and former CEO of Texas Instruments. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Union. Mary Templeton had a 14-year career with General Electric before moving to Dallas, which is Texas Instruments’ headquarters.
