Rensselaer County Farm co-owner gets award

The co-founder of a Rensselaer County Farm is honored for her outstanding contributions to the environment.

Leah Penniman, of Soul Fire Farm in Petersburg, is a recipient of the 28^th Heinz Award for the Economy. Penniman is committed to addressing racism and injustice in the food system.

Soul Fire Farm is a nonprofit that works to reconnect people of color to the land by training the next generation of farmers.

As part of the award, Penniman will receive $250,000.
