Sheriffs’ offices hosts summer camp
Campers from our area and across the state are getting to experience the great outdoors, thanks to law enforcement. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office sent campers to the New York State Sheriffs’ Institute and Summer Camp. The camp is located on Keuka Lake in Yates County. It’s designed for boys and girls from 9 to 12 years old who might not otherwise get the chance to attend summer camp. Children are encouraged to try new activities like fishing and sailing.
Wildlife museum’s new addition
The Wildlife Sports and Educational Museum in Amsterdam opened a new addition this past weekend. The museum is home to the largest display of African animals in New York State. It’s located on Route 30, north of the city. The new 13,000 square-foot addition includes new North American and African animals. The museum is open daily.
Schoharie lilies in bloom
Lilies in bloom will be on display this weekend in Schoharie. This Saturday, July 8, is the annual Lily Festival at Lily Park. The park at the entrance to the village of Schoharie was once an overgrown area used as a landfill. It’s been transformed into a spot known for its tiger lilies. Saturday’s event will feature food, entertainment and children’s activities.
