Capital Cardiology says CDPHP owes them millions of dollars
A local cardiology practice says CDPHP owes Capital Region providers millions of dollars in payments.
Area healthcare providers are waiting for CDPHP to reimburse them for services rendered in 2024, Capital Cardiology Associates said.
The situation is putting a burden on local providers, and the situation is not sustainable.
CDPHP responded, saying this company is facing “unprecedented financial pressures” that are also impacting health plans across the country. The insurance company says because of this, it made the decision not to return its 2024 provider withhold, which is a portion of health care dollars that a health plan keeps as part of an agreement with doctors, the company’s chief financial officer says.
“CDPHP recognizes that our decision will negatively impact our deeply valued provider partners. However, given ongoing market pressures, this decision was necessary to strengthen the plan’s long-term financial health,” said CDPHP Chief Financial Officer Paul Kahlon.
The company is working with government partners to push for financial relief from the federal government.
It also says “it is regrettable and counterproductive for CCA, and their for-profit, private equity owners, to publicly criticize CDPHP for its efforts.”
