Consider buying snacks with natural sweetness

Use moderation when adding sweets to healthy snacks

Use moderation when adding sweets to healthy snacks and do not overdo it.

If you have a craving for sweets, consider buying foods that have sweetness but also nutrients.

Some examples include pineapples, cherries, strawberries and dark chocolate. Honey and maple syrup can also be good alternatives.

But a registered dietitian at Cleveland Clinic says moderation is key. If you get to the point where they are always adding honey to our fruits or maple syrup to their oatmeal, then maybe they are getting a little too dependent on the sweet taste and need to take it down a notch.

These changes may take time to getting used to, but eventually your taste buds will adjust.
