A Saratoga County couple is sharing the tragic loss of their daughter after a years-long battle with anorexia.
Carly Kempf was an active, artistic, energetic child.
She gradually stopped eating and was diagnosed with anorexia.
She stopped going to school by the 10th grade.
There were 10 years of hospital visits as Deb and John Kempf sought help from experts all over the country.
They fought an endless battle of getting Carly some nutrition to improve her physical health in order to work on her mental health.
Carly loved to draw – sketching on Post-it notes to cover the walls.
She would watch and draw the sunset from the hospital bed in her bedroom at home.
Carly had a stroke on Feb. 1. She died on Feb. 13 at age 22.
Carly’s parents hope by sharing their story, they’re helping to raise awareness about eating disorders, the signs to look for and what parents should know.
