Dietitian: ‘Cheat day’ could cause more issues down the road

Ditch the cheat day mindset

Have a mindset in which people should eat healthy foods 80 percent of the time and 20 percent eat what they enjoy.

For some people, having a “cheat day” while dieting can mess with their mood.

They may feel guilty or ashamed like they’ve done something wrong.

A registered dietitian with Cleveland Clinic suggested it’s time to ditch the all-or nothing mindset.
Instead of having a cheat day once in a while, consider following the 80/20 rule.
That’s when you eat nutrient-dense foods 80% of the time and then whatever else you enjoy the other 20%.
