The State Health Department is urging New Yorkers to get vaccinated for polio.
Wastewater samples from early June have now detected polio in Rockland County.
The Health Department confirms that traces of the virus found in the samples, match the confirmed case found in the downstate county.
People who live, work or visit Rockland County are at the highest risk of exposure.
People who have not received the polio vaccine – including young children – should get vaccinated as soon as possible.
