YMCA program encourages cancer screenings
The YMCA is encouraging folks to get screened for breast cancer.
They held the “Don’t Be Scared to Get Screened” event on Monday at the Guilderland branch.
The Capital District YMCA is partnering with the Prevent Cancer Foundation’s Congressional Families Program.
The Congressional Families Cancer Prevention Program was launched in 1991. It’s a nonpartisan effort to promote cancer education and early detection. The program offers educational resources on cancer screenings to YMCA members.
There was a presentation on cancer screening guidelines and resources available to the public.
One survivor spoke of the importance of getting screened. After her sister was diagnosed with breast cancer, she made sure she got her own checkup.
