eBizDocs provides inclusive environment for people with disabilities
As part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, NewsChannel 13 visited eBizDocs, where more than 60% of the workforce is made up of people with disabilities. That includes Navree Turner Woods.
Woods has a heart condition and chronic back pain, and had been out of work for years raising four kids before finding work at the Menands-based company. She was at a job fair looking for jobs for her kids, not herself, when she was approached to come work there eight years ago. She started out as a document scanner and now oversees a unit of 20 employees at the company.
“I take each individual as themselves, because all of us here, it takes all of us to produce what we put out for our customers, and whether it’s a person with a physical, non-physical (disability) or a mental illness, we’re all people, and we all deserve a chance to prove what we can do,” she said.
Job coaching is also offered for all employees.
NewsChannel 13 will be highlighting Woods in this week’s Today’s Women segment, which airs at 6 a.m. Saturday on NewsChannel 13
