Mama Bear’s Diner has opened in Schuylerville.

This family owned and operated business features freshly prepared meals that are cooked from scratch.

Owner and local native Ashley Comeaux is excited about this new endeavor.

“I used to work for the old owners – Sweeneys – as their waitress, and they gave me the opportunity that I couldn’t pass up,” she said.

The Mama Bear’s menu focuses on local, with staple ingredients like milk and eggs sourced from farms right in the Schuylerville area. Those visiting the diner for breakfast may want to come with a big appetite.

“We have massive pancakes that we’re kind of famous for,” she said.

In addition to excellent food, Comeaux aims to provide a family-friendly environment for guests.

The diner’s name is a tribute to two beloved members of her own family. 

“Mama was my dog, and Bear was my brother,” Comeaux said.

The diner wants to expand by offering delivery, and possibly staying open for dinner hours on occasion.
