Saratoga Casino Hotel is marking 20 years in business and of being a strong community partner.

The casino first opened on Jan. 28, 2004.

Through several renovations and a couple of name changes over the last 20 years, the property has expanded to offer the industry’s latest game titles.

It also now features electronic table games, live entertainment at Vapor, fine dining at Morton’s The Steakhouse, and a AAA Four Diamond hotel.

“Like any successful business, there must be change and we’ve been fortunate to have a great team in place and we’ve added a lot of amenities in the last 20 years,” said Skip Carlson, vice president of external affairs for Saratoga Casino Hotel.

The business sees an average of 1.5 million visitors each year and generates nearly 1,400 jobs.

“Jobs are the economic engine in this area, and we have a lot of union jobs here. We have a lot of front-line jobs and good paying jobs,” Carlson said. “I’ve worked here for 47 years, and this is an excellent place to work.”

It’s also a strong community partner, working with AIM services to support the power of potential in people of diverse abilities.

“We’ve been fortunate enough to start a partnership with AIM, and we have Brett (Webster) who is working in our self-serve beverage area, —a position we’ve been hard-pressed to fill, and he’s doing an awesome job,” Carlson said.

Webster said it is a really good environment.

“All the co-workers have been really friendly, super nice,” he said.
