Woman arrested in fatal hit-and-run crash

A woman has been arrested for allegedly leaving the scene of a crash that killed a Berkshire County man.

Samantha C. Paige, 36, of West Stockbridge, is accused of crashing into a scooter driven by 72-year-old Franklin Ripley, according to the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office.

The crash happened on Sept. 28 around just before 6:45 a.m. on Route 102 in Stockbridge. Ripley, of Stockbridge, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Paige was arrested on Tuesday, October 1 and arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court. Bail was set at $7,500. Paige is currently being held without bail on a probation warrant in an unrelated case.
