An invasive species has been found in Onota Lake in Pittsfield.

Officials say zebra mussels were discovered during a regular inspection of the lake.

Zebra mussels can be spread by boat to other freshwater lakes if they are not removed.

If you went boating in this lake recently, you are asked to check your boat and properly decontaminate it.

The City of Pittsfield posted instructions on how to properly do that on its website.
