Arrest warrant issued for contractor who admitted to stealing $70k from customers

BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (WNYT)- An arrest warrant was issued for Dakota Smith Thursday morning, July 25 after he was a no show in Saratoga County Court. Smith was supposed to appear on grand larceny charges.

Smith is facing similar charges in other Capital Region communities. On Tuesday, July 23, Smith pleaded guilty in Greene County to taking more than $70k from people for contracting jobs and not doing the work.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in that case on October 8.

In addition to Saratoga, Smith is also facing charges in Albany County.
