Gloversville Police tight lipped about explosions

Gloversville Police tight lipped about two improvised explosive devices that were donated on Wednesday.

Gloversville Police are continuing to investigate two explosions that occurred on Wednesday on Helwig Street, but said they are not releasing any new information at this time.

The explosions occurred around 1:30 a.m.

Numerous local, state and federal agencies are working on the investigation, including the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, Johnstown Police Department, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Fulton County Office of Emergency Management, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI. 

Gloversville Police Capt. Schaffer said after consultation with some of the agencies involved, no significant information will be released at this time.

“I want to stress that our agency is committed to doing everything possible to bring this case to a favorable resolution by arresting, and aiding in the successful prosecution of, those responsible for these acts. We are devoting all available resources to accomplishing this goal,” said Gloversville Police Capt. Brad Schaffer in a statement.
