Man reindicted on murder charge in fatal Cohoes shooting
A man has been reindicted in connection with a fatal Cohoes shooting.
Nalik Sealy, 25, of South Carolina, was arraigned in Albany County Court Wednesday on charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Sealy is accused of being involved in the shooting death of Shieer Leggett’s death on Aug. 11.
The incident happened at around 10:30 p.m. Surveillance videos showed a group of people getting into a fight.
Sealy and a co-defendant, Dontie Mitchell are accused of drawing their guns and firing. Leggett was struck and killed by one of the bullets.
Sealy was originally indicted in September.
Mitchell also has been indicted on attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon in this case. He originally was charged with murder but Judge Ackerman dismissed that count because she said there wasn’t sufficient evidence to prove that Leggett acted in concert with another person to cause Leggett’s death.
It is not immediately clear why Sealy’s initial indictment was dismissed.
Sealy’s attorney pleaded not guilty.
His next court date is March 13.
