CANTON, Mass. – Katie Wood is a mother of four and former teacher.
She says like many other moms, the pandemic shutdown was complete chaos for her.
However, she discovered something during that time. It turns out her habit of spending a few minutes every day calming that chaos by journaling was being watched by one of her daughters.
That inspired her to start giving her daughters fun journaling exercises to work on each morning.
Two years later, those exercises turned into a book called “A Simple Seed.”
“There are 100 entries. There’s a life lesson that’s short and sweet, gratitude…we’re really trying to teach kids to focus on what they already have and be grateful for that,” explained Wood.
Each lesson takes about five minutes each morning.
Teachers are even joining the growing list of people using the book in their classrooms.
