New York Senator Neil Breslin will not run for reelection
Breslin not seeking re-election
The longest serving New York state senator says he will not run for reelection this year.
Neil Breslin, 81, was first elected in 1996 and has served parts of Albany and Schenectady counties as well as all of Montgomery County for more than 25 years.
NewsChannel 13’s Dan Levy has learned that Pat Fahy has been unanimously endorsed by the Executive Committee to replace Breslin in the Senate.
Fahy would be the first woman to represent the Capital City in the upper house.
“I’m excited and honored by the prospect of serving our community in a new capacity, and look forward to formally announcing my candidacy in the coming days and sharing my vision for our district, community, and state in the near future,” Fahy said in a statement.
