Selkirk duo arrested for robbery after meeting arranged through dating app
Two people in Selkirk are facing charges, accused of robbing a man who thought he was meeting a woman he got in touch with on a dating app.
COEYMANS, N.Y. (WNYT)- Jasmine Peppin, 27 and Jason Ellsworth, 48, were arrested for robbery after Coeymans Police say Peppin arranged to meet another man at a mobile home in the Flemings Trailer Park through a dating app.
Police said the man reported the duo held a gun to his neck and demanded money. He said Peppin and Ellsworth let him go once they received payment.
Peppin and Ellsworth were identified during the investigation and a warrant was issued for their arrest Thursday, according to Coeymans Police. They were both charged with robbery and kidnapping.
Police said they were taken into custody with the help of the Albany County Sheriff’s Office and sent to Albany County Jail.
