Activists remind motorists to slow down outside Albany school
Many people describe the roadway in front of Albany High School as “an accident waiting to happen.” In fact, an accident already did happen there earlier this year.
An Albany High School freshman was struck by a car and badly injured in the crosswalk. No one wants to ever see that happen again. That’s why parents, teachers, and students hit the pavement on Monday.
The protesters were carrying picket signs. They were marching back and forth across Washington Avenue to make sure motorists realize they were driving in a school zone, need to slow down, and they need to proceed more cautiously and carefully.
The folks were also urging the city to take further steps they believe will further ensure safer commutes for everyone: students, teachers and motorists.
