Another $10 million in state funding is now available to offer a statewide youth and teen mental health first aid program, Gov. Kathy Hochul said.
The funding will develop a training and certification program that helps New Yorkers identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness, her office said.
“This statewide training program will empower teachers, caregivers and teens to recognize and assist those in need – bettering their health and that of those around them,” Governor Hochul said in a statement.
State funding has helped train more than 2,000 adults and 5,000 teens in youth mental health, according to the governor.
