Schools are welcoming students back to the classroom, despite this early September heat.
North Colonie schools sent a letter to parents outlining the steps it is taking to keep kids safe.
That includes allowing students to take regular water breaks.
The school staff will also closely monitor the heat index throughout the day – especially during recess and gym classes.
Whenever possible, the district will prioritize indoor activities to provide relief from the heat.
