When the final buzzer sounded on March 17 in Glens Falls, the North Warren High School boys basketball team had won its first-ever state championship. Now the boys are being honored for their historic run.

State Sen. Dan Stec honored North Warren on the Senate floor on Thursday.

The Cougars defeated Sackets Harbor in a game that went down to the wire.

Stec was in the arena as the boys celebrated. Now he’s passing an official resolution to commemorate their achievement forever.

“The community was so thrilled and excited for you,” Stec said. “What a fantastic weekend of basketball. I was glad to be there with you guys, and see the hard work, and watch you guys these last couple of years on this run that you’ve been on.”

This was North Warren’s second straight trip to the state Final Four, breaking through for the title this past season.
