Siena to host eclipse watch party
Siena College is planning to welcome the public to an eclipse watch party, but they warn — please don’t drive there.
Details affecting local, regional and national news events of the day are provided by the NewsChannel 13 Team, as well as updates on weather and traffic.
The watch party will be on the quad from 1p.m. – 5 p.m., and is free to the public. The planetarium will also be hosting shows. But parking will be a mess.
Mindy Townsend, the Dudley Astronomer at Siena College, urges everyone to take public transportation to the event, or to take an Uber or Lyft.
“Parking will be nearly impossible once you’re here,” Townsend said.
Unfortunately, Townsend said the public will not be able to use the observatory’s telescopes, as they do not have the necessary solar filter to safely view the eclipse.
