Gillibrand calls for funding increase to help close projected nursing gap

The health care industry is putting out the call for doctors, nurses and home health care professionals.

New York is projected to be short more than 39,000 nurses by 2030.

U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is pushing to increase funding for local health centers that train the next generation of health care workers.

The current funding level is around $47 million.

Gillibrand wants nearly $70 million. She also had an update on infrastructure negotiations.

She says a framework of a deal may be reached before the end of the week.

The Democrats gave themselves a deadline of Sunday to get the infrastructure bills passed.
