Ballston Spa Mayor Larry Woolbright unexpectedly resigns

Ballston Spa Mayor Larry Woolbright made a surprise announcement during Monday night’s virtual board meeting — he will resign effective Friday.

Reading from a statement, the mayor blamed his decision on the Democrats on the board — mainly Liz Kormos and Ben Baskin. He says they block him at every turn, and have different priorities than he does.

Kormos says she’s shocked and saddened by the decision, and apologized if she’s ever offended him.

Baskin said he was sad to see the mayor go.

Woolbright took office in 2019.
