No matter political affiliation, many people are keeping a close eye on the race in Saratoga Springs this year.
"It’s very important for diversity and for us to come to a collective to get to know each other. That’s why once again when we have our events we invite all people, doesn’t matter what political affiliation you are or anything. Once again in order for us to be a community, we have to be together," said Lexis Figuereo, Leader of Saratoga Black Lives Matter.
The overall message of the event to encourage people to get out, use their voice and vote. Barbara Thomas, a member of the League of Women Voters, stressed the importance of local elections on the lives of everyday people.
"A democracy can’t work unless the citizens take an active and involved part in voting and it takes work on the part of the citizen to do that," said Thomas.
