Albany’s Fisher House among local charities seeking help on ‘Giving Tuesday’

ALBANY – "Giving Tuesday" is November 30, and local charities like Fisher House hope you will donate.

The Fisher House is located on Holland Avenue, right next to the Stratton VA Medical Center. It provides free housing for family members of those who are hospitalized at the VA.

The Fisher House also serves younger veterans and their families with children.

"These houses are all within walking distance," said Ken Fisher, the CEO of the Fisher Foundation. "So we’ve removed the stress, we’ve removed the additional burdens on these families that have, quite frankly, made enough burden and sacrifices, and tried to make it a little bit easier at the most stressful time."

Many homes are now equipped with play rooms to meet the needs of kids.
