ALBANY – Gov. Hochul hosted a Thanksgiving Eve celebration at the Executive Mansion on Wednesday.

The festivities kicked off with a series of what the governor called "dad jokes on steroids."

She pardoned Sully the turkey in front of kids who were invited.

"This turkey was in ‘gravy’ danger before I decided to pardon him," said Hochul.

Sully was donated by the Jaffe Family from Snowdance Farms.

The tradition of pardoning turkeys goes back to President Abraham Lincoln.
