Troy Police investigating teen car theft, chase

Troy Police are investigating after a teen stole a vehicle from another teen at gunpoint.

It happened at 3rd Street and Washington Place at about 10:00 p.m.

Officers said they were trying to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver kept going. That’s when he hit another car, flipping the car he was driving.

Officers confirmed that car was stolen.

Police said they would not classify this as a “high-speed chase,” since it was so short. A tow truck arrived to take the flipped car away at about 11:30 p.m.

Police added the owner is pressing charges. No injuries were reported.
